Mugendi F. Kohi
Mr. Mugendi Kohi is a well vetted common-law Notary; an academician as well as a social researcher. His exposure reaches back to 2003 when he started as a State Attorney Trainee in the Attorney’s General Chamber, and subsequently as a Resident Magistrate Trainee in the judiciary at the Kisutu Resident Magistrates’ Court, before he was recruited to work for the most reputable Firm in the region – Mkono & Co., in 2004. In the post-2004 period Mr. Kohi jumped ranks when he assumed senior legal responsibilities as he was trusted with the post of a Company Secretary and Law Associate in locally –based firms of TMK Consulting Ltd. and Mrosso & Associates Co. respectively; where Mr. Kohi handled some challenging corporate and investment affairs of foreign and multinational companies. For the past four years since 2007 Mr. Mugendi has been consistently and intensively engaged in academic circles as a full time Lecturer in Law, where he deals with matters of legal policy, theory and reform through teaching, active publishing and research; a noble experience that has promoted Mr. Kohi as a first-rate legal practitioner. His breakthrough publication consists of an article on the reform and development of tax infrastructure in Tanzania which tackles the most recent insurmountable challenge in the fiscal policy and performance of the country. Kohi is a proven researcher having been entrusted as a regional research supervisor in two research projects; and is currently in the process of publishing a textbook on socio-legal research. He has a very fine category of specialty in the fields of corporate law, tax law and investment law in which he holds a Master Degree. Mr. Kohi is an Advocate of the High Court and Courts subordinate thereto. He is also a member of the Tanganyika Law Society and the East African Law Society.
